When my aunt Chami talks about her experience at Ricks College, she never fails to mention Stadium Singing. And I don't blame her!
Stadium Singing is a tradition here of gathering every Sunday night at 9:00 under the bleachers and singing hymns together. I bought myself a hymbook so that I wouldn't have to rely on others...and so that I could have my own hymnbook. It's good to have!
Even though it's cold in Rexburg at 9:00 p.m., it's a great experience. The Spirit is strong and it's a great way to meet new people. Chelsea, Laura, Carolyn and I might go to the Ice Caves with our new friend Colby (who we met at Stadium Singing two weeks ago and ran into tonight as well) this weekend. I also meet cute guys by wearing gloves and offering to share my hymnbook in exchange for him turning pages. Just kidding, I only did that once. =]
Fun times! I just read that at BYU-P they do something called tunnel singing in the tunnel between the Marriott center and campus. Never heard of that while I was there. Stadium singing sounds much better:)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!! I had a hymnbook too, but one night afterwards, it had been snowing and a guy friend started chasing us and I fell in the slow and lost my book... Sad, but FUN!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo is this your only blog now?
ReplyDeleteWe didn't do that back in the day when I went to ahem, RICKS. But I did SO LOVE the school! I had several nooks with benches in the Snow Building (is that the name of it? I just typed it, but I really have no idea - the performing arts building across from Sunrise Village - used to be for girls) and I loved to study and watch the weather and the boys.
I really like what you said about liking where you live. I may have to implement something like that for our poor family who is really struggling here in Louisiana. So, I might copy you, but I will give you props!
No, I still post on The Brooke Report, too. This one is more Rexburg-specific, a little bit like "c jane's guide to Provo." Yes, performing arts building is the Snow. I have a class there, but I like studying in my room. I have a good view of the Smith and the Clarke and I can people-watch.
ReplyDeleteI tried Brooke Report and it said it wasn't a blog and the name was available...
ReplyDeleteIt works now. Probably operator error.
